I believe strongly in a proactive and positive classroom, based on Teaching with Love and Logic.
I believe in the acknowledgment of children who make good choices, participate, and cooperate. I also use both a team and class point system that rotates often to build class community.
If a problem arises, progressive discipline is followed in this order: verbal and visual reminders, warning, time out, missed recess, conference with student.
If the problem persists, a call home to parents is warranted.
If necessary, I will have a partnership meeting with the child and parent to set up a behavioral contract.
